CNC Machinist

Cape Fear Boat Lifts is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented CNC Machinist to support the manufacturing of our aluminum boat lift systems and components.
The primary responsibility of this position is programming, setting up, and operating our CNC machine to produce accurate, high-quality parts. When CNC production does not require full-time attention, this employee will assist with general manufacturing, assembly, material handling, shipping, receiving, and other warehouse duties.
This position is well suited for someone who is mechanically inclined, comfortable working independently, and willing to contribute wherever needed in a growing manufacturing operation.
Primary Responsibilities
- Program, set up, and operate CNC machinery
- Interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and work instructions
- Select appropriate tooling, cutting speeds, feeds, and machining processes
- Load raw materials and properly secure workpieces
- Inspect completed parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring tools
- Make programming or machine adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and production quality
- Monitor tooling condition and replace or adjust tools as necessary
- Perform routine machine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance
- Maintain accurate production and material records
- Identify and report equipment, tooling, or quality issues
- Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area
- Assist with the assembly and packaging of boat lift components
- Load, unload, organize, and move aluminum, hardware, and finished products
- Assist with shipping, receiving, inventory, and general warehouse operations
- Perform other manufacturing and warehouse duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous experience programming and operating CNC equipment is strongly preferred
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications
- Understanding of machining fundamentals, tooling, feeds, speeds, and tolerances
- Experience using precision measuring instruments
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn company software and production processes
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and make sound production decisions
- Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to assist with responsibilities outside of CNC machining when needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience machining aluminum
- Experience with CAD/CAM software
- Experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or marine-products environment
- Forklift or material-handling experience
- Familiarity with inventory, shipping, and receiving procedures
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and work on a shop floor for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to bend, reach, climb, and safely handle manufacturing materials
- Ability to work around machinery, metal chips, lubricants, noise, and typical warehouse conditions
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment
