Responsibilities
- Operate CNC lathe machines, including Fanuc-controlled equipment, to produce complex parts according to detailed blueprints and technical drawings
- Set up machines by installing tooling, calibrating tools, and adjusting parameters to ensure optimal performance
- Program CNC lathes using CNC programming languages and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software to create precise machining instructions
- Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications, and technical drawings for accurate part production
- Conduct precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision instruments to verify dimensions
- Perform routine maintenance on machinery and troubleshoot issues promptly to minimize downtime
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols and lean manufacturing principles
Skills
- Proficiency in CNC programming and CAM programming for lathe operations
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading, GD&T, and mechanical drawings
- Experience with electrical discharge machining (EDM) is a plus
- Knowledge of SolidWorks and CAD software for part design and modifications
- Mechanical aptitude with basic math skills necessary for precise measurements and calculations
- Familiarity with machining tools such as hand tools, power tools, tooling setups, bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, and precision measuring instruments
- Ability to operate CNC milling machines in addition to lathes is advantageous
- Experience working with Fanuc controls or similar CNC control systems
- Understanding of plastics injection molding processes is a bonus
- Ability to work safely with forklifts and other material handling equipment
- Knowledge of welding techniques relevant to manufacturing or assembly tasks is desirable
