Exotics Instructor – NAVTA Approved Veterinary Assistant Program
Are you passionate about exotic animal medicine and education? We are seeking an experienced and engaging Exotics Instructor to teach a specialized component of our NAVTA-approved Veterinary Assistant Program.
This is an excellent opportunity for a veterinarian, veterinary technician, or experienced exotic animal professional who enjoys sharing their knowledge with the next generation of veterinary support staff.
Position Details
Teach 10-15 classes per school year
Didactic classes can be remotely taught
Classes meet once weekly for 3 hours
Flexible scheduling between September and May
Choose either Mondays or Wednesdays
Opportunity to help shape curriculum and provide real-world clinical insight
Course Content
Instruction should include both didactic and hands-on learning experiences covering:
Exotic animal anatomy and physiology
Species-specific husbandry and care
Safe handling and restraint techniques
Common husbandry-related health concerns
Practical skills and clinical applications
Qualifications
Experience working with exotic animal species in a veterinary, zoological, rehabilitation, or educational setting
Strong communication and teaching skills
Veterinary credential (DVM, VTS, CVT/LVT/RVT) required
Passion for mentoring and educating future veterinary professionals
