Director of Assessment - Cape Cod Community College

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Director of Assessment leads, develops, organizes, and implements a comprehensive assessment plan and practices that connect assessment to teaching and learning and foster a student-centered culture of continuous improvement in pursuit of educational excellence. The Director collaborates with faculty and staff, academic programs, Institutional Research, workforce development, and co-curricular programs to: support the establishment of measurable and meaningful learning outcomes; support faculty in aligning curriculum and course development with outcomes assessment; implement processes for assessing learning outcomes using robust methodologies; and lead the collection, storage, analysis, and presentation of quantitative and qualitative data as it pertains to student learning, engagement, and success. The Director supervises the Assessment Coordinators, is responsible for managing and facilitating the review processes for academic programs and departments and oversees the assessment of Institutional Student Learning Outcomes and co-curricular programs.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Support systematic planning and change by developing and administering a comprehensive, continual assessment program of student learning outcomes and evaluation of academic programs, collaborating with the campus community to integrate assessment and evaluation efforts across campus, and integrating assessment activities and results with accreditation processes.
• Represent the College and its assessment and evaluation processes to external agencies, participate in state and regional assessment, curriculum, and planning initiatives through the Department of Higher Education and NECHE.
• Provide leadership to the academic program review process and oversees the program review schedule, support academic departments in the development of their annual reports, develop and maintain a system that improves annual reporting.
• Coordinate the activities related to the College's re-accreditation processes with NECHE and follow-up initiatives related to assessment and institutional effectiveness.
• Provide oversight and assistance with report preparation for the College's accredited academic programs.
• Supervise the Assessment Coordinators and works with them to develop and to implement a college-wide plan, including professional development and training for faculty and staff.
• Design and facilitate professional development on assessment for faculty and staff, including being responsible for the planning and implementation of professional development activities for the annual assessment days.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to support the development and refinement of measurable learning outcomes and develop methods to assess learning outcomes at the course and program levels.
• Design processes for tracking and maintaining assessment for learning in academic departments, programs, co-curricular programs, and services.
• Develop, refine, and facilitate schedules and processes for collecting and analyzing assessment data.
• Record, store, manage, and disseminate confidential and sensitive assessment data, as appropriate.
• Manage internal and external communication of assessment findings.
• Recommend and participate in the development of college policies and procedures; may serve on planning and policy-making committees.
• Collaborate with IR, faculty, and staff to analyze, interpret, present, and effectively use data results related to assessment, evaluation, and accreditation to inform strategic decision-making.
• Stay abreast of education trends and accreditation, assessment, and evaluation best practices.
• Perform other professional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master's degree from an accredited institution with coursework or experience in quantitative analysis, data science, or related fields.
• Three years of experience in academic assessment, with strong quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills.
• Experience with the development of assessment methods for learning outcomes and academic program review.
• Strong Excel skills for analysis and reporting.
• Experience with business intelligence or data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau).
• Knowledge of best practices in assessment and academic program review.
• Ability to analyze, interpret, apply, and synthesize quantitative and qualitative data to prepare and present reports effectively.
• Knowledge of accreditation and evaluation processes at departmental, program, state (DHE) and national (NECHE) levels.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a team environment.
• Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Doctoral degree in Higher Education Administration, or five years of experience working in Institutional Research, with strong leadership in academic assessment and review.
• Experience working with student information systems (e.g., Banner, Jenzabar) or similar databases.
• Familiarity with higher education reporting requirements and institutional research practices.

COMPENSATION: Full-time, Non-Unit Professional Position. Annual Salary range of $110,000 -$120,000, dependent on qualifications. Includes participation in a comprehensive employee benefits program and the option for membership in the Massachusetts State Employees' Retirement System.
