About Capcenter
CapCenter is a technology-driven mortgage lender headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, offering purchase and refinance mortgage lending with a focus on exceptional borrower experience and operational efficiency.
Role Summary
The Senior Finance Manager will lead CapCenter's corporate financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and strategic analysis. This role is central to the company's finance function — owning the monthly close process, building financial models that inform leadership decisions, and partnering cross-functionally to drive profitability and operational discipline.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the monthly and quarterly financial close, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to leadership
- Develop and maintain the annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and variance analysis
- Prepare financial statements, management reports, and board-ready presentations
- Partner with department heads (Origination, Secondary/Capital Markets, Servicing, Legal) to build and track departmental budgets
- Analyze revenue drivers — pull-through, margin, volume, and servicing income — and surface actionable insights
- Manage cash flow forecasting and coordinate with warehouse lending / LOC management
- Support audit readiness, tax filings, and regulatory financial reporting requirements
- Evaluate and improve financial systems, processes, and internal controls
- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis for strategic initiatives (new products, M&A, capital allocation)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred)
- 7 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or management capacity
- Mortgage banking or financial services industry experience strongly preferred
- Deep proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite)
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial controls, and audit processes
- Excellent communication skills — able to translate financial data into clear narratives for non-finance stakeholders
- High attention to detail with ability to see the big picture
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with mortgage-specific financial metrics (gain-on-sale, MSR valuation, warehouse utilization)
- Familiarity with Encompass LOS or similar mortgage technology platforms
- Prior experience in a growing or mid-market company where you built processes, not just maintained them
