Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure safe, appropriate, and cost-effective medication therapies for patients
- Review and interpret physician orders to prepare medications accurately
- Detect and resolve therapeutic incompatibilities to optimize patient outcomes
- Dispense medications by compounding, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals
- Provide education and information to patients regarding their medication therapy
- Counsel patients on medication usage, potential side effects, and interactions
- Advise customers on medication brands, medical equipment, and healthcare supplies
- Offer specialized services to assist patients in managing conditions such as diabetes
Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid pharmacist license and state pharmacy board certification
- Proven experience in a pharmacy setting, preferably in a clinical or hospital environment
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, medication management, and safety protocols
- Excellent communication and patient counseling skills
- Ability to interpret medical prescriptions and detect potential drug interactions
