What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technology Support Specialist position at Canyon Independent School District?
Primary Purpose:
Facilitate, implement, and provide advanced end-user technical support of technology
systems district-wide. Respond to requests for assistance from faculty, staff, and
Technology staff regarding end-user computer software, hardware, peripherals, and
other related technology.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of computer workstation setup
Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications
Ability to install, maintain and repair computers and peripherals, including
printers, interactive whiteboards, projectors, and scanners
Ability to diagnose basic network problems and escalate when necessary
Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and solve advanced computer problems
Ability to resolve complex computer problems in a professional, congenial
manner
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Experience:
One year experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing personal
computers and/or related technology
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Provide level-two technical support for end-users and end-user devices
as directed by the Chief Technology Officer and the Technology Support
Coordinator
2. Install licensed software programs as required and as licensed by the
Software Support Administrator
3. Record service requests into the district work order system
4. Document reports of inappropriate use of equipment, as requested
5. Assist in CISD staff development training programs, as required
6. Record and maintain inventory of all technology-related equipment
7. Stay current with advances in the computer technology industry
8. Enjoy working with people and technology
9. Support technology in the classroom in a timely manner utilizing the
available support tools and by using innovative and emerging
technologies throughout the district
10. Perform repairs, as needed, to maintain clean, operable
equipment
11. Perform necessary management of computers and printers
following normal procedures including beginning and closing-of-year
procedures
12. Keep informed of innovations in computer and networking
technology
13. Maintain confidentiality of information
14. Exemplify high standards of ethical conduct according to District
Policy
15. Support administrative policy
16. Represent the school system to the community in a positive
professional way
17. Maintain a sincere, friendly attitude toward visitors and patrons to
ensure communication
18. Perform other duties, as assigned
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
Requires working in a cooperative, assisting manner with all district staff. Requires
lifting (up to 40 lbs.), stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and prolonged use of
computing devices. Requires frequent travel to various campuses and locations
within CISD.
