What are the responsibilities and job description for the Van Driver position at Canton Public Schools?
Canton Public Schools is seeking an per diem van driver to support transportation needs within the district.
VAN DRIVER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drive all types of trips in support of school approved activities including athletic events
- Operate a school van in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; follow all safety rules and regulations
- Maintain control of student passengers as related to safety; report unsafe acts or conditions which require the attention of any person other than the driver
- Perform required operational and safety inspections of the school van and all related quipment
- Assure vehicles are in a safe and proper condition; follow preventative maintenance schedule
- Perform other van driver related duties as directed by the District
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Driver must be available afternoons and evenings
- Proven record of dependability and dedication
- Possess a valid Massachusetts Driver's License
- Excellent physical health with current Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
- Consent to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administraton) Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse
- Complete a satisfactory Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check
- Complete a satisfactory SAFIS fingerprint based national criminal history check
- Pass a pre-employment drug and alchohol screening
- Three continuous years of driving and clean driving record
- At least 1 year of relevant transportation experience preferred
Compensation: This is a per diem hourly position; $28 per hour
