Job Summary
The District Technology Support Specialist is responsible for providing day-to-day technical support for students and staff throughout the district. This position is assigned to support CPS technology needs and are the primary responsibility of the specialist.
Canton Public Schools maintains a 1:1 Chromebook program grades 5-12. A primary responsibility of this role is the management, tracking, and coordination of Chromebook repairs. The specialist evaluates damaged devices, performs low-level repairs in-house when possible, and escalates more complex repairs by entering tickets into the repair queue and following up through completion.
This position requires strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently. Resourcefulness, adaptability, and strong customer service skills are essential. The ideal candidate must also demonstrate patience and professionalism while communicating with students, staff, and interdisciplinary teams with varying levels of technical knowledge.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide timely technical support for all users by documenting, tracking, and following up on requests submitted through the district ticketing system, as well as responding to emails, messages, and phone calls
- Provide direct technical assistance and support to students as needed
- Collaborate with members of the technology team to troubleshoot issues and develop effective solutions
- Execute assigned tasks and assist in the implementation of technology projects and initiatives
- Configure, deploy, maintain, and perform repairs on end-user devices and related equipment
- Reallocate, replace, and install hardware and software throughout the district as needed
- Coordinate and facilitate the repair process for district-owned devices, including Chromebooks and other instructional technology
- Maintain accurate inventories, payment records, and other required documentation
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Technology Administrator
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, and/or equivalent work experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical expertise and end-user support for Macintosh computers, Windows PCs, and mobile devices including iPads and Chromebooks
- Working knowledge of macOS, iOS, Windows, Chrome OS, and Google Workspace applications
- Experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving a wide range of technology-related issues
- Ability to physically move and set up technology equipment within school buildings
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks, adapt in a fast-paced environment, and make sound decisions during emergency situations
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented with a strong customer service focus
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment

Compensation:
This position is a 205 day personal service contract that includes all the days school is in session. Salary range for this role is $65,000-$75,000. The town of Canton offers a generous and competitve full benefit package.
