Position Overview:
Canton Drop Forge, a leading producer of large, closed die forgings in Canton, Ohio, is seeking an Off-Shift Foreman to join our team within our Machining Department. This role is critical in providing leadership to union machine shop personnel, ensuring efficient production operations, adherence to safety standards, and high-quality output. Candidates must have strong CNC programming skills, machining expertise, and working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate activities of machine shop personnel on 2nd and 3rd
- Provide hands-on support and troubleshooting for CNC programming and machining operations.
- Monitor and manage workflow to meet production targets, quality standards, and delivery schedules.
- Enforce company policies, safety regulations, and union contract provisions.
- Champion Lean Manufacturing initiatives to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
- Conduct shift meetings, assign tasks, and ensure timely communication with other shifts and management.
- Provide training, mentoring, and performance feedback to team members.
- Maintain accurate documentation and production reports.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the manufacturing plant for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 45 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop, and reach to access files, equipment, and supplies.

Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in machining, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Proven CNC programming and troubleshooting expertise (e.g., Fanuc, Haas, or similar systems).
- Work NC, Edgecam, and/or compatible experience desired.
- Strong understanding of G-code and machining processes (milling, turning, grinding, etc.).
- Experience working in a unionized environment strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
- Effective leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to work independently during night shifts with minimal supervision.
