Description
The Middle School teacher at Cannon School, provides a safe, nurturing environment for students in their classroom utilizing the school’s instructional program. The teacher works to create meaningful, developmentally appropriate learning experiences in order to continue to build strong foundational skills for lifelong learning.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach a load of four classes out of a seven period day (teachers are expected to teach a load of four classes and two to three preps, though other situations can be contractually negotiated).
- Perform various duties, such as proctor study hall, conduct a weekly help session, lunch duty, bus duty, detention duty, etc.
- Serve as an Advisor to approximately 10 students throughout the year by serving as the point person to communicate with them and their families regarding academic and other issues.
- Organize and/or attend class trips as chaperones.
- Chaperone events and sports activities throughout the year.
- Communicate with parents of students on a regular basis via letters, email, phone calls, and/or meetings.
- Attend a reasonable number of student performances and events.
- Attend weekly grade-level meetings with appropriate Dean.
- Attend mandatory faculty meetings and other events.
- Other duties, as assigned by the Head of Middle School.
Qualifications
BA required, Masters preferred, a minimum of 2 years teaching experience
