Description
The Lower School PE teacher at Cannon School, provides a safe, nurturing environment for students in their classroom utilizing the school’s instructional program. This teacher focuses on crafting engaging and age-appropriate learning experiences to strengthen fundamental skills essential for lifelong learning. They utilize a range of teaching methods and stay updated on the latest best practices in physical education for children and adolescents. Knowledge and implementation of positive discipline in PE classes is required. Further, it is expected the PE teacher will work with school staff, faculty, and community to promote physical activity and a positive climate for movement.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain a positive attitude and conduct oneself professionally with respect to students, faculty, parents and the community.

Co-teach with two members of the PE team to manage a grade level of 30 60 students.

Communicate regularly and effectively with parents of students via letters, email, phone, and /or conferences.

Attend mandatory faculty meetings, planning meetings with LS PE department, and other events.

Develop, implement, and assess a dynamic physical education program.

Use a variety of methods, materials, and techniques to teach physical education.

Organize classroom systems and procedures to ensure all students are fully engaged in learning.

Actively seek opportunities for professional development.

Listen and respond to student and parent concerns in a responsible, constructive, and resourceful manner.

Actively support the school philosophy, mission, vision, community, and policies.

Other duties, as assigned by the Head of Lower School.
EDUCATION REQUIRED/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in education with an emphasis in physical education, Master’s degree in education preferred

Minimum three years experience preferred
