Real Estate Development / Tax Credit Financing Attorney

Cannon Heyman & Weiss, LLP (CHW) is seeking associate attorneys with 2 – 6 years or Senior Associates with 6 years of relevant experience to join our Albany, NY or Buffalo, NY offices. Our offices allow for a hybrid work model after successful completion of our introductory period.

CHW’s practice is focused on complex real estate finance transactions. We represent for-profit and non-profit developers, as well as lenders, syndicators, and institutional investors on transactions involving the development and financing of multi-family housing and commercial real estate using tax-exempt bonds, conventional debt and the syndication of various tax credits.

Candidates should desire a fast-paced, challenging, and collegial work environment.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with active bar membership in New York State or eligibility for admission.
• Effective communication skills for client counseling, legal advocacy, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience in affordable housing, community development, commercial lending, real estate law, tax law, not-for-profit law and/or public housing law is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with land use laws, environmental regulations, and municipal zoning codes relevant to New York State projects is strongly preferred.

Compensation:

Associate Attorney (2-6 years exp): $120,000-160,000 plus annual bonus potential

Senior Associate (6 years exp): $160,000-215,000 plus annual bonus potential
