Job Summary
Cannon Companies is seeking a skilled Field Technician with experience in telecommunications, fiber optics, or utility infrastructure to support our growing operations across the Pacific Northwest.
This role is ideal for candidates with hands-on field experience in OSP (Outside Plant), fiber, or utility mapping who are ready to take the next step in their career. You will work closely with Project Managers and Designers to collect field data, support permitting, and ensure accurate project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform field data collection, site walks, and telecom infrastructure assessments
- Conduct basic surveys of fiber, copper, and utility infrastructure (OSP/ROW)
- Identify and document existing conditions, conflicts, and field obstacles
- Interpret and verify utility maps, prints, and construction drawings
- Support engineering, permitting, and construction planning teams
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
- Upload and manage field data using tablets, laptops, and internal systems
- Travel to multiple job sites as needed
Required Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in telecom, utility, construction, or field technician roles
- Working knowledge of fiber optic and/or copper networks
- Experience with OSP (Outside Plant) environments and right-of-way (ROW)
- Ability to read and interpret utility maps, prints, or basic engineering drawings
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift 20 lbs overhead and walk/stand for extended periods
- Proficiency with basic computer systems and data entry
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
Preferred Qualifications
- Telecom certifications or training
- Knowledge of NESC standards
- Experience with utility locating, surveying, or field inspections
- Familiarity with fiber deployment, broadband, or network infrastructure projects
