What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Project Engineer position at Cannon Construction?
As a Project Engineer, you'll work closely with Project Managers and leadership to keep projects moving forward-on time, on budget, and done right.
You will:
- Prepare, review, and assemble critical project documentation (bids, costing, engineering, construction)
- Support project design, development, and quality assurance
- Help manage project workflow, timelines, and deliverables
- Ensure projects meet company standards for Safety, Quality, Integrity, and Teamwork
- Coordinate with permit teams to secure approvals and keep projects compliant
- Assist with invoicing, change orders, and project reporting
- Maintain accurate project records and documentation
- Support scheduling and communication across teams
- Build strong working relationships with crews and internal teams
- Build relationships with customers and have strong communication & professionalism
What You Bring
We're looking for someone who is motivated, coachable, and ready to make an impact.
Required:
- Experience in a construction office environment (Telecom or Utility)-5 years
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel is a must)
- Experience with Google Maps / Google Earth (KMZs)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills (email, phone, in-person)
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving ability
- Positive attitude, driven, and highly motivated
- Ability to pass a drug screen, background check, and obtain military base access (Safety Sensitive role)
- 5 years of experience with CAD design programs
