What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dog Walker/Pet Sitter position at Canine Companions LLC?
Small professional long-term established pet sitting company looking to add a part time dog walker/ pet sitter to our team. Seeking an trustworthy, reliable, flexible, knowledgeable person in caring for these pets and homes like they were your own.
Must live local to the areas of Darien, New Canaan, and Norwalk as those are our main service areas.
Serious candidates only, this is not seasonal work. Looking for someone who can make a long-term commitment at least a year and will work diligently to build a bond with pets and clients to continue to strive in the personal attention the company prides in giving.
This part time position can fluctuate between 15-25 hours a week to start, with ability to grow to full-time. Must be flexible and available as this is a fast paced work with occasional last minute add-ons or changes.
Availability during the week especially midday hours, nights, weekends and holidays a must. Work hours can be as early as 6:00 a.m. through as late as 10:00 p.m. House sitting opportunities as well for those available overnights after establishing yourself for a bit with the company.
Must be extremely self-motivated, organized, comfortable and physically able to walk and handle all breeds. On top of taking care of dogs, you may see cats and other critters as well. Excellent communication skills written and verbal a must. Excellent observation and retention skills needed as well as you switch environments often and need to get your bearings established quickly at each job to perform to the level and familiarity the clients have been used to receiving. Routine and continuity are extremely important to animals.
Must have previous work experience in caring for pets and ability to administer medications. Insulin injection experience a plus.
Valid driver's license required along with a reliable dog friendly vehicle. Must also pass a background check.
