We're looking for a compassionate, clinically driven Oncology Pharmacist who is passionate about patient care and enjoys collaborating with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and pharmacy technicians to deliver exceptional cancer treatment. Position Summary
The Pharmacist is responsible for the safe and accurate dispensing of medications for cancer patients, ensuring compliance with all pharmacy regulations and best practices. This role includes patient counseling, medication therapy management, pharmacy operations, inventory oversight, and supervision of Pharmacy Technicians. The pharmacist also serves as a clinical resource for providers and staff while supporting the Director of Pharmacy as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Accurately review, prepare, verify, and dispense prescriptions in accordance with physician orders, clinical protocols, and regulatory standards.
  • Evaluate patient medication profiles for drug interactions, contraindications, dosing appropriateness, adverse reactions, and therapeutic effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with physicians and advanced practice providers to resolve medication-related concerns and optimize patient care.
  • Educate patients and their families on medication use, side effects, drug interactions, and treatment expectations.
  • Provide medication education and clinical support to healthcare providers and staff through in-service training and individual consultation.
  • Maintain complete and accurate prescription documentation and pharmacy records.
  • Oversee medication purchasing, inventory management, receiving, storage, and compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Supervise and support Pharmacy Technicians in daily operations.
  • Serve as backup for the Director of Pharmacy when needed.
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in departmental projects and other responsibilities as assigned.

Education
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) preferred, or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited program.

Experience
  • Two to three years of pharmacist experience required.
  • Oncology pharmacy experience strongly preferred.
  • Retail pharmacy experience preferred.

Licensure
  • Current Nebraska Pharmacist License required.

Knowledge and Skills:
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Strong knowledge of oncology medications, disease states, therapeutic drug monitoring, and clinically significant drug interactions.
  • Experience with pharmacy dispensing, compounding, inventory management, and reimbursement processes.
  • Understanding of Nebraska pharmacy regulations and healthcare compliance standards.
  • Excellent patient counseling and communication skills.
  • Strong clinical judgment and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize workload while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with pharmacy computer systems and electronic documentation.
  • Commitment to outstanding customer service and compassionate patient care.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, pharmacy technicians, and other healthcare professionals.

Work Environment
This position works in both a retail pharmacy and outpatient infusion setting and may involve occasional exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous medications, and pharmaceutical preparations.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, and manual dexterity required.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
