Role Description
Canal Town Community Church in Palmyra, NY is on an active search for a new pastor to take over pending Pastor Chris Kelley’s “retirement.” His last Sunday will be March 8, 2025. We believe the foundation has been laid and a strong infrastructure is in place, ready for a new pastor to bring in new energy and a great harvest with God’s blessing. The church carries no debt but currently has a limited budget. The goal is to offer a $50,000 salary, but we are open to a bi-vocational pastor until growth is such to support a long-term full-time position. Ideally looking for a younger family who can help reach the community for Christ. However, we want to be faithful to God’s calling. The Lead Pastor will be responsible for overseeing and guiding the spiritual growth and well-being of the congregation. Key tasks include leading or coordinating mid-week Bible study sessions, delivering weekly sermons, providing pastoral care, and nurturing discipleship within the church community. The role involves fostering a welcoming and spiritually enriching environment while collaborating with church leadership and members to fulfill the mission and vision of the organization.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Bible Study, with a deep understanding of scripture and the ability to teach its principles effectively.
- Experience in Pastoring and Pastoral roles, with a strong focus on leadership, mentoring, and spiritual guidance.
- Skills in Pastoral Care and the ability to provide emotional, spiritual, and practical support to individuals and families in the congregation.
- A passion for Discipleship, with a talent for nurturing the spiritual growth and development of church members.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills.
- Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Ministry, or a related field is desirable.
- Strong commitment to the mission, values, and ministry of the church.
