Summer Camp Nurse Job Description:
Founded in 1906, Camp O-AT-KA is a boys residential summer camp located on the shores of beautiful Sebago Lake. We are hiring nurses who share our philosophy of developing boys to their fullest potential. Our nurses are an integral part of our camp community and we encourage our nurses to participate in activities and camp life as much as possible.
This position provides an opportunity to spend a summer in an idyllic setting while honing primary care nursing skills within a healthy pediatric population. Our Infirmary provides 24-hour coverage for approximately 100 campers and 60 staff. We have access to a local physician for consults and same-day appointments, and are located within 30 minutes of major medical facilities. O-AT-KA is an American Camp Association accredited camp. Camp Nurse responsibilities:
· Assess medical needs and treat or recommend treatment
· Dispense meds – must be licensed to do so in the State of Maine (camp will pay fee, if need to acquire)
· Provide first aid for minor injuries
· Promote health and safety of campers and staff
· Keep medical records (electronic and paper)
· Maintain records and documentation in accordance with ACA and State of Maine regulations
· Ensure transitioning nurses are informed of Infirmary procedures and current medical issues
· Communicate with administration and parents
· Arrange transportation and chaperones for sick/injured campers or staff to the hospital or to medical appointments

Work Schedule:
Our Infirmary is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You will have one full day (24 hours) off per week and varied weeknights. During other hours, you do not have to always be in the Infirmary, but do need to be onsite.
