JOB OPPORTUNITY:
Spend a summer in the beautiful Allegheny Mountains of West Virginia, making friends and having a positive impact on campers Serve as a cabin counselor, cooperating with your co-counselor to lead and supervise a group of 6-14 campers during nine weeks of summer camp, for children ages 6-16.
Teach and lead activities - Camp Counselors are also Activity Instructors. We offer rock climbing, swimming, arts and crafts, ceramics, sports, culinary arts, mountain biking, fishing, hiking, outdoor living skills and more. Participate in a variety of fun evening programs and all camp events, from Campfires to Dance Parties to Camp Competitions, and Talent Shows. Lead with kindness and enthusiasm. Make lifelong memories and help campers do the same.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide leadership to campers. Help them to make friends and encourage them to try new activities
- Share the responsibility of supervising the campers in your cabin with your co-counselor.
- Attend to the emotional well-being of campers, proactively reporting any concerns to supervisor(s).
- Participate in all-camp events. Join a team focused on creating safe, fun camper experiences
- Learn to lead a variety of workshop activities under the guidance of Program Area Directors.
- Adhere to CHM's core values of respect and community by treating others with courtesy at all times.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 18 years of age by June 12, 2026.
- Experience working with children.
- Positive attitude, open mind, willing to learn new activities.
- Able to relocate to West Virginia (housing provided) for the duration of contract dates.
- Teamwork and solution-oriented, willing to learn from and create with others.
- Child-focused and committed to creating safe and fun experiences for our campers.
