Camp Grace Bentley is Michigan's oldest residential summer camp for children and adults with special needs. Our mission is simple and powerful: "Giving kids with special needs a special summer." Located on the beautiful shores of Lake Huron, our lakeside camp offers a warm, supportive, and adaptive environment where campers build friendships, grow confidence, and create unforgettable summer memories.
Our fully equipped campus features heated and air-conditioned buildings, a theater, arts center, in-ground pool, lakefront access, basketball court, blacktop activity area, sports field, and so much more to support a fun, engaging, and inclusive camp experience.
Position Overview
We are seeking compassionate, responsible, and energetic individuals to join our team as Residential Camp Counselors for the upcoming summer season. Counselors play a vital role in supporting campers with physical, intellectual, and developmental disabilities while helping plan engaging activities and daily routines in a vibrant lakeside setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, lead, and participate in recreational activities and camp events
- Provide daily living support, including showering, feeding, dressing, diapering, and mobility assistance
- Foster a positive, respectful, and caring environment for all campers
- Work collaboratively with fellow counselors and leadership staff
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of campers at all times
Schedule & Commitment
- 8-week residential position: June 16 – August 16, 2024
- Counselors reside on-site during camp sessions
- Time off: Friday 3:00 PM – Sunday 1:00 PM each week
