2026 Summer Intent for Camp K

Program Overview
Program: ACA Accredited Summer Overnight Camp.
Location: Copper Landing, AK on Kenai Lake.
Dates: Vary per position - but will take place from mid-May through early August
Staff Shifts: All Camp K staff reside on camp premises with youth during all camp sessions. Room & board is provided all season.
Activities: While at Camp K staff navigate youth through a variety of camp activities such as; hiking, boating, outdoor games, art building, target sports, outdoor living skills and team building.

Positions at Camp K:
- Counselor
- A Camp K Counselor is responsible for the 24 hour per day supervision and guidance of a cabin group of campers, working with other counselors and support staff to facilitate a variety of activities.
- Qualifications:
- Must be eighteen (18) years of age, is required to maintain compliance with regulatory and accrediting
- Lifeguard Counselor:
- Responsible for the 24 hour per day supervision and guidance of a cabin group of campers, working with other counselors and support staff to facilitate a variety of activities. During waterfront activities, supervise staff and campers during swimming and boating lessons and activities
- Qualifications:
- Must be eighteen (18) years of age, is required to maintain compliance with regulatory and accrediting
- Current Lifeguard Certification with CPR for the Professional Rescuer including AED and First Aid Certification from a nationally recognized provider, required.

- Creative Arts Core Counselor
- The Creative Arts Core Counselor is responsible for the minute-to-minute supervision of campers in their cabin group. They also provide oversight to the Camp K Creative Arts Program, which entails developing and teaching art activities for all age groups i.e. arts & crafts, drama, singing, music, acting, etc. In this position your will gain experience collaborating with program leadership to identify camp needs, develop/implement successful programming, and take part in the evaluations of the programs.
- Qualifications:
- Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age, this is required to maintain compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies. Twenty-one (21) years old or older preferred.
- Prior experience in creative arts instruction, including lesson planning, is required.
- Outdoor Living Skills Core Counselor
- Responsible for the 24 hour per day supervision and guidance of a cabin group of campers, working with other counselors and support staff to facilitate a variety of activities. Additionally, provides oversight to the Outdoor Living Skills (OLS) Program, which entails developing and teaching nature, outdoor education, and outdoor living skills activities. Lead expedition trips with small groups of older campers.
- Qualifications:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age (21 preferred) is required to maintain compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
- Wilderness First Responder Certification from a nationally recognized provider, preferred.
- Target Sports Core Counselor
- Responsible for the 24 hour per day supervision and guidance of a cabin group of campers, working with other counselors and support staff to facilitate a variety of activities. Additionally, provides oversight to the Camp K Target Sports Program, which entails instructing a variety of target sports activities, and ensuring proper guidance and supervision of campers and staff during these activities.
- Qualifications:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age (21 preferred), required to maintain compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
- Prior experience in target sports instruction, including lesson planning, is required
- Waterfront Specialist
- This Waterfront Core Counselor provides oversight to the Camp K Aquatics Program, which entails instructing all lakeside activities, i.e. canoeing, kayaking, swimming, water survival skills on Kenai Lake, lifeguarding and supervising the lifeguard counselor. This position will also be supervising campers in all camp activities including meal times, games, choice activities, and sleeping; in which they will work with another camp counselors to support an assigned cabin group of campers.
- Qualifications:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age (21 preferred), required to maintain compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
- Prior experience in boating instruction, with lesson planning for open water settings, is preferred.
- Current Lifeguard Certification from a nationally recognized provider.
- Lead Counselor
- The Camp K Lead Counselor plays an essential role in supporting the Summer Assistant Director with the planning, facilitation, and supervision of all camp programs. This position works collaboratively with other members of the leadership team to ensure an engaging, safe, and memorable experience for both campers and staff.Key responsibilities include supervising counselors and specialized program areas, helping design and lead staff training, organizing large-group events, and implementing Camp K’s Leaders-in-Training (LiT) program and other special programs. As a mentor and coach, you’ll guide counselor staff in developing their skills, fostering teamwork, and modeling positive leadership

- Qualifications:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age (21 preferred) is required to maintain compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
- Must have previous experience in program administration, preferably in an overnight camp setting.
- Minimum of one (1) year prior experience in staff supervision and management, is preferred.
- Qualifications:
- Support Specialist
- A Camp K Support Specialist will support in the logistics of the camp day. This can include but is not limited to admin support, behavioral support, medication delivery, youth transport, etc. and will be expected to contribute to the betterment of camp flow and culture.
- Qualifications:
- Eighteen (18) years of age (21 preferred) is required to maintain compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
- Kitchen Assistant

- This Kitchen Assistant supports the Kitchen Manager in youth focused food service program aimed at the provision of nutritious and appealing meals in a safe and clean environment, i.e. food preparation, inventory, dishwashing and cleaning. This position resides on camp premises during each camp session.
- Qualifications:
- Ability to acquire and maintain an Alaska Food Worker Card is required.
- Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older to maintain compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
