Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Comptroller to oversee the financial operations of our organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in accounting principles, regulatory compliance, and financial management within a non-profit or governmental context. The Comptroller will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, and supporting strategic financial planning to promote organizational stability and growth.
Duties
- Manage and oversee all accounting functions including general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports in accordance with GAAP, IFRS, and other regulatory standards.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Lead regulatory reporting efforts, ensuring compliance with governmental and non-profit accounting standards such as SOX regulations.
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard organizational assets.
- Oversee budgeting processes, financial forecasting, and variance analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms for efficient financial management.
- Coordinate external audits and ensure timely completion of audit requirements.
- Develop financial policies and procedures aligned with best practices in public accounting and corporate finance.
- Provide leadership in technical accounting issues including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and complex financial concepts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Extensive experience in accounting roles with a focus on governmental or non-profit organizations; experience in public accounting is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, SOX compliance, regulatory reporting requirements, and federal/state regulations governing non-profit or governmental entities.
- Proficiency with various accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms; advanced Excel skills required.
- Demonstrated expertise in cash management, account reconciliation, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and general ledger reconciliation.
- Excellent analytical skills coupled with strong financial acumen; ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
- Effective communication skills for preparing detailed financial reports and presenting findings to stakeholders.
- Ability to lead a finance team while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This role offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to the organization’s fiscal health through expert financial oversight and strategic planning.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
