Summary/Objective
The Nursing Informatics Specialist serves as educator and subject matter expert for specific modules in Epic and/or other clinical information systems focusing on nursing.
Essential Functions
- Provide education and training to users of clinical information systems virtually and in person
- Collaborates with medical providers, patient care staff, and unit management in the planning, implementation, and delivery of educational curricula
- Provides support to users of clinical information systems
- Assesses workflow related processes and requirements to facilitate system enhancements and modifications
- Recommends, implements, and supports approved system optimizations
- Participates in process improvement initiatives to identify potential uses of the information systems and potential optimization of current use of systems
Qualifications
Experience
- Previous experience for which NURSING INFORMATICS SPECIALIST will be training
- Minimum two years in education, healthcare, or a related field
Skills/Competencies
- Ability to adapt teaching style for a diverse group of learners in a structured classroom or informal one-on-one setting
- Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills with a dedication to building strong relationships
- Understanding of clinical and clerical workflows, processes, and terminology as they relate to designated Epic modules and other clinical information systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Education Required
- Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program
Licenses Requirements
- Current State of Indiana licensure in Nursing
Certifications
- Epic Credentialed Trainer within 3 months of hire
- BLS- Healthcare Provider within 3 months of hire date
