Summary/Objective
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will provide high-quality, patient-centered care in collaboration with supervising gastroenterologists. The APP will evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with a wide range of gastrointestinal (GI) conditions in outpatient clinic. Responsibilities include patient assessments, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and educating patients on gastrointestinal health and treatment plans.

SHIFT: 0.8 FTE. Full-time position, Days
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Conduct comprehensive histories, physical examinations, and assessments of patients with GI-related conditions.
- Order, interpret, and act upon appropriate diagnostic tests (laboratory, imaging, endoscopic studies).
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physician(s).
- Prescribe medications and adjust therapies according to clinical guidelines and patient response.
- Manage both acute and chronic general GI conditions.
Patient Education & Support
- Counsel patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, lifestyle modifications, and preventive health measures.
- Coordinate care with dietitians, primary care, and other specialists to optimize patient outcomes.
- Provide education and instructions for preparation and recovery related to GI procedures (e.g., colonoscopy prep, post-procedure care).
Team Collaboration & Administrative Duties
- Collaborate closely with supervising physicians, nursing staff, and administrative team members to ensure continuity of care.
- Document patient encounters, assessments, and care plans accurately and timely in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical meetings, and continuing education activities.
- Contribute to practice growth through patient satisfaction, clinical efficiency, and teamwork.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
- Current and unrestricted state license to practice as an NP or PA.
- National certification as an NP (AANP/ANCC) or PA (NCCPA).
- DEA license (or eligibility to obtain).
- BLS certification required.
- Preferred candidate with minimum 1–2 years of experience in gastroenterology, internal medicine, or hospital-based
- Comprehensive onboarding education and training will be provided to support the development of clinical skills specific to gastroenterology care.
