DEMOGRAPHICS: The Camden County Sheriff’s office is looking for energetic, career-oriented persons to join our law enforcement team, whose desire is to make a positive impact on the lives of the citizens and visitors of Camden County. PHYSICAL AND PROFESSIONAL ABILITIES: Applicants must have the ability to sit for long periods of time, visual acuity to read and interpret documents and focus on computer screens for a 12-hour shift, and type 35 words per minute at a minimum. Applicants must also speak clearly and possess excellent hearing to operate radio and telephone equipment. Multi-tasking is a much-desired ability. Must be able to maintain composure and perform effectively during emergency and stressful situations.
QUALIFICATIONS AND TESTING: Applicants must be a United States citizen, 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent, possess a valid Missouri driver's license, and have no felony or serious misdemeanor convictions on a criminal background check. Applicants should exhibit character, honesty, reliability, and integrity. Testing may include written and spelling examinations, oral interview, psychological examinations, and drug screening.
JOB DESCRIPTION: 911 Communications Officers monitor law enforcement telecommunications radio traffic and telephone communications. Requests for service are received and responded to by advising appropriate law enforcement jurisdictions as well as fire and emergency medical technicians. All calls for service are prioritized and entered in the Computer Aided Dispatch system and dispatched accordingly. The National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System (MULES) will be utilized for driver’s license and vehicle registration information, criminal history requests and warrant maintenance. Training will be provided within the first 6 months of employment.
