MAJOR DUTIES

Job Summary

MAJOR DUTIES
- Prepares documents for court, including the preparation of summons and subpoenas; organizes files; prepares orders to appoint attorneys.
- Attends hearings; prepares court notes.
- Enters new cases; updates information; enters court dates into computerized calendar.
- Reviews and amends orders; disperses orders to parties.
- Prepares a variety of regular and special reports.
- Prepares Termination of Parental Rights packages; sends copies to newspaper and attorneys; schedules special hearings.
- Schedules emergency hearings; prepares orders to appoint attorneys.
- Prepares documents for filing with Appeals Court.
- Schedules guardianship hearings.
- Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance.
Knowledge Required By The Position
- Knowledge of Juvenile Court policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of record retention principles and practices.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.

Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
