Title: Lower School Substitute Teacher
Reports to: Lower School Principal
Work Year: 10-Month Non-Exempt, Seasonal (As Needed Basis)
Job Description:
The Lower School substitute teacher will serve in a range of grade levels from Pre-Kindergarten through 6th grade on an as-needed basis, up to 27.5 hours per week. The Lower School substitute teacher will implement classroom instruction utilizing teacher-provided lesson plans and maintain a positive and structured learning environment. Candidates must demonstrate a love for children, a commitment to Biblical values, and the ability to communicate effectively while managing classroom responsibilities with professionalism and care.

- Follow Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, staff, and administration

- Subscribe to and promote the statement of faith
Position Responsibilities:
- Arrive on time and prepared for the day
- Warmly greet students as they enter the classroom
- Take accurate attendance
- Implement lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher
- Maintain a positive, respectful, and Christ-centered learning environment
- Actively supervise students, including in the classroom, hallways, recess, lunch, and dismissal
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents
- Promptly report any concerns or incidents to the Lower School Office
- Uphold the guidelines outlined in the Lower School Parent/Student Handbook
- Adhere to school policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook
- Support a school-wide culture of high expectations, growth mindset, and collaboration
- Provide feedback to school staff regarding the day’s experience, including the effectiveness of lesson plans and student behavior
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff
- Active Christian and member in good standing of a Bible-believing church
- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to adjust to varying daily responsibilities
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills, including calendar coordination
- Excellent critical thinking, verbal, and written communication skills
