- Job Summary:
- To assess, plan, implement the nursing care to meet the patients’ needs, by following the appropriate policy and procedures of the assigned department.
- The Registered Nurse (RN) on the Telemetry Unit provides high-quality, patient-centered care to adult and geriatric patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring and specialized observation. The RN demonstrates critical thinking, clinical competence, and professional accountability while collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to deliver safe and effective care.
- Education:
- Position requires completion of a Diploma Nursing Program or an Associate Degree in Nursing (AA) or higher.
- Registration/Certification/Licensure:
- Unexpired state licensure from Maryland Board of Nursing or compact state board of nursing
- Registered Nurse Certification in specialty, preferred
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS required. ACLS must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 1-year acute care experience preferred; telemetry experience strongly preferred.
- Other Requirements:
- Maintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and/or any other department requirements.
- Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills; proficiency with telemetry monitoring and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Demonstrated proficiency of computer skills necessary to effectively complete position requirements to include Microsoft Office applications with an emphasis on Excel, Access, Word and Outlook.
- Successful completion of Telemetry training and Stroke training during orientation.
- Previous experience and demonstrated professionalism in effectively communicating with internal and external customers, both verbally and in writing, and in promoting a positive work atmosphere.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in accordance with hospital policies and nursing standards.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize concurrent projects, meet deadlines, follow through with deliverables, and produce quality work.
- Administer medications, perform treatments, and provide patient and family education.
- Effectively communicates with all patient populations and staff by implementing organization-wide communication techniques as a daily practice.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate individualized care plans.
- Effectively advocates for quality patient safety and satisfaction as a daily practice.
- Monitor, interpret, and document cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately to arrhythmias or changes in patient condition.
- Serve as a resource for Patient Care Technicians and assist with delegation and supervision as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
