What are the responsibilities and job description for the Calumet County Schools - Mental Health Program Coordinator position at Calumet County?
Under the general direction of the Calumet County Director of Special Education, provide leadership to all aspects of the mental health program for all five districts who are a part of the Calumet County Children with Disabilities Education Board, CCDEB Program including Brillion Chilton, Hilbert, New Holstein and Stockbridge School Districts.
This position is a grant-funded position. The grant is funded through December 31, 2029.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Work directly with the Director of Special Education for Calumet County to implement the Mental Health Grant activities
- Collaborate with each district and provide leadership to all aspects of the mental health program in each district and as provided through the Mental Health Grant
- Communicate and collaborate with district directors/coordinators of special education and/or the mental health point-of-contact for each district
- Facilitate a CCDEB-wide committee on mental health
- Serve as a liaison between students, parents, classroom teachers, building administrators, and community to mobilize resources to assist students with mental health needs
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with local community partner agencies
- Collaborate with districts to provide leadership with programming documentation to ensure maintenance and accuracy of records
- Promote mental health for students and adults in the county regularly (examples: newsletter, online opportunities, meetings, resources)
- Gather project details from collaborators and clients to establish expectations and goals
- Manage the grant budget and allocate funds and resources with collaboration with the Calumet County Director of Special Education
- Establish timelines and monitor progress toward deadlines
- Collaborate with stakeholders to make adjustments if the project goals change
- Document project details to maintain accurate records
- Collect and maintain pertinent student data related to mental health
- Arrange for contracts with outside agencies when applicable
- Collect and analyze feedback from stakeholders about the project results to assist in measuring success
- Maintain understanding of mental health initiatives at each school district and provide guidance to those initiatives as needed
- Represent the county by taking an active role in community-based mental health committees and events
- Be knowledgeable and share information about positive approaches for supporting the success of students with mental health concerns with all stakeholders
- Stay current in the field of mental health services for children in schools
- Collect and disseminate information concerning mental health events and learning opportunities to students, staff, and families
- Attend staff development sessions as approved/directed by the county director of special education
- Present, as requested. to groups such as an administrative team or school board.
- Participate in hiring of other grant-funded staff (4.5 school psychologists) and coordinate their successful transition to the county and district(s)
- Communicate and collaborate with all those who provide mental health services to staff in each district including but not limited to school psychologists and school counselors
- Connect families to community services to address students’ mental health concerns
- Assist families in pursuing student-focused goals related to mental health
- Work to eliminate barriers to mental health services for families
- Participate in school-based child-study teams when mental health is of concern, including IEPs as appropriate
- Work and consult with teachers to develop differentiated learning and/or behavior plans, as well as identify resources to help students at risk
- Provide/arrange for families to receive information about positive mental health support for their children
- Coordinate and/or facilitate staff mental health learning opportunities
- Share information with educators on mental health related topics including but not limited to The Wisconsin School Mental Health Framework and Toolkit, Trauma Informed Care, Trauma Sensitive Schools, Adverse Childhood Experiences ACES, and Trauma Sensitive Practices

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in an Education or Mental Health-related Field
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, parents, administrators, school staff, and the general public. Ability to communicate tactfully, clearly, concisely, and accurately with students, parents, and all school staff.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction certification in the area of employment.
