Job Description And Duties

Under the general direction of the Senior Transportation Engineer, Office of Traffic Investigation, the incumbent is responsible for general safety related Traffic Investigations Reports, and recommendations for changes or improvements to the state highway; scoping and initiation of traffic safety improvement projects; and general traffic safety related oversight of highway projects from design through construction. Duties include data gathering, analysis, alternative evaluation, recommendations, and review of reports compiled by an Engineer. These reviews help identify areas for potential improvements. In addition, the Engineer provides safety and operational advice, and review to Project Development, Construction, and Maintenance as they design, construct, and maintain the projects delivered by the District.

For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. Special Requirements

• Appointment to Range D requires a valid Professional Engineering License (Civil) issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. For all other ranges, a PE license is not required.

The SOQ should be no more than two pages in length, 12-pt Arial font, and should provide answers to the following questions:
