Overview
Young Adult Life Skills Coach
**Pay: $21.00 per hour**
Full- Time
Schedules Available: Day 6 AM – 4 PM, Mid 1:30 PM – 9:30 PM, or Overnight 9PM – 7AM
Location: Lake Ozark Missouri (fully on-site)
Are you empathetic, patient, and committed to empowering young adults on their journey towards sustainable mental wellness? Have you mastered adulting and want to help others learn valuable life skills?
As a Life Skills Coach, you will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support emerging adults (ages 17.5 – 21) in their journey towards improved mental health and well-being.
Every day you will participate and guide young adults in experiential therapies like art, music, yoga, hiking, fitness, and a variety of other on and off campus activities, including taking them out into the community to do volunteering, job interview, community college visits and the like.
To thrive at Calo, you must have an empathetic heart and maintain personal and professional boundaries with teens.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all students have finished their assigned chores–including cleaning of the team home–and taken care of their personal hygiene
- Demonstrate patience and calm demeanor under pressure
- Maintain firm boundaries with students
- Show empathy and compassion towards students
- Form a bond with students based on trust
- Promote a fun and positive atmosphere in our “Milieu” for social skill development
- Collaborate with a team to facilitate students' healing process
- Accompany students on outings and Adventure Therapy sessions
- Engage in animal-assisted therapy to simulate foster/adoption experiences and promote healthy attachments
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum age requirement: 21 years
- Prior experience working with young adults required, preferably in another mental health setting or in similar roles like camp/college/career counseling or Big Brother/Sister program.
- Able to pass State and Federal background checks
- Able to pass physical and perform duties of the position
