JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Nurse Practitioner in an Ambulatory Surgical Center provides patient-centered care before and after outpatient surgical procedures. Responsibilities include performing pre-op evaluations, managing post-op recovery, prescribing medications, educating patients and collaborating with the surgical team. Depending on specialty and regulations, minor procedures may also be performed.
Key Responsibilities:
This position is mainly a clinic based practice, seeing about 15 patients per day, and will include vascular consults in nursing homes. Exposure to blood-borne pathogens; OSHA training required. Regular use of standard office equipment. Reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
- Pre-Operative Assessment: Review medical history, conduct physicals and order labs to evaluate surgical readiness.
- Patient Education: Explain procedures, risks, post-op care and pain management.
- Informed Consent: Ensure understanding of procedures and proper documentation.
- Post-Operative Care: Monitor recovery, manage pain and address complications.
- Medication Management: Prescribe and administer post-op medications as needed.
- Discharge Planning: Provide instructions, schedule follow-ups and address concerns.
- Team Collaboration: Coordinate care with surgeons, anesthesiologists and staff.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of assessments, care plans and progress.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
- Active NP license and specialty certification (e.g., Acute Care NP, Surgical NP)
- Surgical or perioperative experience preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and patient education abilities
- Ability to work independently and respond to emergencies
- A car and driver’s license are preferred. (Mileage, tolls and gas are reimbursed)
- Minimum 2 years of vascular/endovascular experience
- Strong leadership, organization and teamwork skills
- Proficient in basic computer use; EHR experience preferred
- Wound care experience is also desired.
