About the Role:
Callen-Lorde Community Health Center is seeking a dynamic and mission-driven physician executive to serve as Vice President of Research, Education, and Sexual Wellness (VP-RESW). Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, this senior leader will drive strategic initiatives across clinical research, education and training, and sexual wellness program development.
This role is instrumental in advancing Callen-Lorde’s position as a national leader in LGBTQ and HIV care by strengthening research partnerships, expanding educational programming, and ensuring high-quality, affirming sexual wellness services across all care settings.
As a Vice President of Research, Education, and Sexual Wellness, your key responsibilities will include:
- Lead and advance research initiatives, partnerships, and grant development while ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Oversee education and training programs, including curriculum development and clinical training for staff and learners.
- Provide strategic and clinical leadership for Sexual Wellness services, including program growth, quality improvement, and standardization of care.
- Monitor and improve clinical quality, access, and patient outcomes across services and care settings.
- Maintain a part-time clinical practice and serve as a physician leader and role model.
- Direct and develop the Research and Education team, including staff supervision and performance management.
- Partner with senior leadership on strategy, operations, budgeting, and organizational priorities.
- Represent the organization internally and externally, including with academic, community, and professional partners.
Work Schedule:
Callen-Lorde is open Monday through Friday. This is a full-time position

Qualifications:
Qualifications (Education, Certifications, Experience, Skills, Language)
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) required.
- Active New York State licensure and registration as an MD, DO required; board certification or board eligibility strongly preferred.
- Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Medical Education, Research, or a closely related field preferred; advanced training or equivalent leadership experience in one or more core portfolio areas may be considered in lieu of an additional graduate degree.
- 10 years of progressive experience in healthcare administration, research, and/or health education, with a minimum of 7 years in a senior leadership or management role.
- 5 years of direct clinical practice experience required;
- AAHIVM certification preferred.
- 5 years of demonstrated experience in research, education, and evaluation within a healthcare setting or academic environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in sexual health, HIV prevention, and/or LGBTQ clinical care, including experience with PrEP programs, STI prevention and treatment, and evidence-based sexual wellness models of care strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in grant writing and management, including government, foundation, and corporate funding sources.
- Experience with clinical informatics, EHR systems (EPIC strongly preferred), and data analytics in a healthcare environment.
- Experience working within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and managing LGBTQ and HIV health issues strongly preferred.
- Experience with academic institution partnerships, graduate medical education, and clinical training program administration preferred.
- Familiarity with human subjects research compliance, IRB processes, and Federal/State research regulations required.
- Experience with electronic practice management and population health management systems required.
- Strong leadership and management skills with a demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Strategic thinking and planning skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously.
- Proficiency in conflict resolution and the ability to foster collaborative, solution-oriented work environments.
- Strong knowledge of clinical documentation standards, regulatory requirements, and healthcare operations.

Salary : $295,000 - $315,000
