Job Description and Duties

We are looking for candidates who can perform maintenance activities, including operating various types of heavy and light equipment; carpentry, electrical, welding; and herbicide application. Safety is first here at DFD, and since these positions require employees to make decisions in regards to safe working conditions, we like to hire people who are safety minded and will adhere in compliance with all safety regulations. If you don’t already have it, within 90 days of being hired, you must obtain a valid Class A (Commercial) driver’s license with proper endorsements.

Department of Water Resources (DWR) was established in 1956 by the California State Legislature. We manage California’s water resources, systems, and infrastructure, including the State Water Project, in a responsible sustainable way.

Special Requirements

Must be willing to work odd and irregular hours during times of need or emergencies. Must have a valid Class C California Driver’s License, and be able to get a Commercial Class A Driver’s License within 90 days from your start date. This is a safety-sensitive position and is subject to Federal DOT alcohol and substance abuse testing requirements (including random testing) as set forth in Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
