Responsibilities
- Assist the oral surgeon during surgical procedures, including extractions, implants, and biopsies
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and treatment rooms
- Monitor patients’ vital signs during procedures
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative patient care and instructions
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays)
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
- Ensure compliance with infection control and safety protocols
- Manage inventory and order surgical supplies as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of a dental assisting program preferred
- X-ray certification (as required by state regulations)
- CPR/BLS certification
- Previous experience in oral surgery or dental assisting strongly preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of surgical procedures and instruments
- Experience with sedation or anesthesia monitoring
- Familiarity with dental software systems
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
