Admissions Manager & Principal Designated School Official (PDSO)

California Miramar University
San Diego, CA Full Time
POSTED ON 7/19/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 8/16/2026

California Miramar University (CalMU) is seeking a hands-on, compliance-focused, and detail-oriented Admissions Manager & Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) to lead and execute all aspects of our admissions operations. This pivotal role supports CalMU's mission of delivering a seamless, student-centered, and fully compliant admissions experience.

This is a highly hands-on position; you will be directly involved in every stage of the admissions process. It is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a small, entrepreneurial environment, enjoys building efficient systems from the ground up, and is passionate about supporting students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • International Admissions: Review and evaluate international applications, verify credentials and English proficiency, ensure compliance with SEVP, SEVIS, and DHS regulations, and communicate directly with recruitment partners.

  • I-20 Issuance & SEVIS Compliance: Serve as the university's PDSO and directly issue, process, and maintain I-20 forms with 100% accuracy. Complete all SEVIS actions — including enrollments, transfers, deferrals, and terminations on time.

  • Enrollment Processing: Review enrollment agreements for accuracy and compliance, monitor admissions pipelines, and conduct regular audits to meet DEAC, BPPE, Title IV, and federal standards.

  • Orientation & Student Onboarding: Lead orientation for domestic and international students, covering immigration, academic expectations, and cultural adjustment. Work with Registrar, Student Success, and Academic teams to ensure a smooth transition.

  • Process Execution & Improvement: Enforce a 24-hour decision turnaround on completed applications, refine admissions SOPs, resolve documentation issues, and continuously improve workflows using tools like HubSpot and AI-driven solutions.

  • Data & Reporting: Track key admissions metrics, analyze trends, and provide data-informed recommendations to improve conversion rates and reduce attrition.

  • Collaboration: Partner with Recruitment, Registrar, Student Success, and Finance to align admissions operations with institutional goals and ensure accurate data sharing.

  • Actively participate in leadership and compliance meetings, ensuring alignment with CalMU's Leadership Principles.

Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (required to serve as a PDSO).
  • Bachelor's degree in education, international relations, compliance, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of hands-on experience in higher education admissions, SEVIS compliance, or international student services.
  • Prior experience as a DSO or PDSO at an SEVP-certified institution is required.
  • Strong knowledge of F-1 visa regulations, SEVIS, SEVP policies, Form I-20 issuance, and federal compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Student Information Systems (SIS), and CRM platforms.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Must be able to work 10:30am-7pm

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience preparing and maintaining Form I-17.
  • Completion of NAFSA training or equivalent professional development.
  • Experience improving admissions processes and building systems in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
  • International experience and strong cultural competency.
