What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fertility Nurse Coordinator position at California IVF Fertility Center?
We place a very high emphasis on patient satisfaction and education. Preference will be given to a Registered Nurse with experience in the infertility field or experience in women’s health.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, organized, and very detail oriented. The candidate should be able to multitask effectively and be able to handle stressful situations with diplomacy and professionalism. Strong leadership skills will be required to help motivate and coordinate the treatment team which may include other nursing staff and medical assistants. The nurse will need to possess interpersonal skills which will allow for effective communication during telephone triage and collaboration with the providers and embryology staff.
Essential Duties:
- Provides continuity, information and instruction to patients regarding treatment options, pre-treatment evaluation, treatment cycles, medications, cost of treatment and expected outcomes. Answers telephones without hesitation. Assists patients in obtaining insurance authorizations.
- Ensures that patient documentation, forms and consents are complete and accurate. Reviews all patient medications and calendars to ensure accuracy.
- Schedules patient appointments, completes laboratory requisitions and obtains physician orders for medications. Prepares medication calendars. Prepares and maintains patient records to ensure that proper forms, visit notes, documentation and requisitions are complete, accurate and available.
- Maintains patient logs, reminders, and electronic communications, to ensure complete and accurate tracking and availability of patient information. Ensures that all forms, requisitions, laboratory tests and orders are reviewed and signed by physician. Ensures that all consents are complete, accurate and signed by patient, prior to the start of treatment.
- Under supervision of provider, orders and maintains inventory of drugs and controlled substances for procedures, operating room and recovery. Ensures their security. Monitors and disposes of expired medications appropriately. Maintains medication logs.
- Assists providers during patient examination and treatment, including ultrasounds, diagnostic and surgical procedures, egg retrievals, and embryo transfers. Prepares and maintains patient examination and treatment areas by cleaning, sanitizing and maintaining equipment. Anticipates and prepares room set-up, instruments and supplies. Maintains knowledge of patient history and treatment, and provides provider with concise summary, as needed.
- Serves as recovery room nurse during TVOR and other surgical procedures
- Performs phlebotomy; Conducts and maintains QA monitoring, daily logs; Conducts QA chart audits and coordinates QA medical waste, sterilization procedures and logs
- Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements: Preferred: Minimum of 2 years related work experience as Registered Nurse; Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from accredited school of nursing. Current California RN license required. ACLS certification required. Experience in obstetrics, gynecology or ambulatory care preferred.
- Working knowledge of insurance billing, insurance verifications and treatment coverage.
- Ability to access, input and retrieve information from electronic medical records with high degree of accuracy. Must be highly detail-oriented.
