Under the supervision of the Supervisor I of the Fire Administration and Reimbursement Unit, Fire and Rescue Branch, the Analyst I will perform varied technical and analytical tasks including administrative duties, and reimbursement duties at a journey level for the Fire and Rescue Branch. The incumbent must also have good organizational habits, be able to handle multiple tasks, and be able to meet constantly changing priorities and deadlines.

Working Conditions

In Office: This position supports and manages the day-to-day business operations for Cal OES which is handled in an office location. This is not considered a hybrid telework position.

The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, Fire and Rescue Division is responsible for the development, implementation and coordination of the California Fire Service and Rescue Emergency Mutual Aid Plan. The Plan is developed and updated under guidance and approval of the Fire and Rescue Service Advisory Committee/FIRESCOPE Board of Directors. The continued success of California’s unique and highly-effective Fire and Rescue Mutual Aid System demands a maximum level of understanding and cooperation by all who use and support it.

In the event of an emergency, employees may be contacted and requested to report to work in the event of an emergency. This contact may be outside of your normal working hours (evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays). This service may require irregular work hours, work locations other than the official duty location, and may include duties other than those specified in your official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and you may be required to relocate to emergency sites.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with all levels of staff.
  • Knowledge of and ability to collect, track and report data.
  • Experience in providing quality customer service.
  • Ability to develop reports using Excel and other software programs to assist staff to manage performance and quality control.
