Job Description And Duties
DSH-Napa Physical Rehabilitation Therapy Services is hiring a Physical Therapist I.
The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties, but not limited to:
Performs physical therapy, evaluations, and treatment of individuals; takes pulse, temperature, weights, and measurements of individuals; and observes individuals undergoing treatment and report unusual occurrences, physical condition, and progress of individuals to Medical Staff and supervisors.
Administers active, passive, and resistive therapeutic exercises and local or general massage, muscle training and corrective exercises, and coordination work; administers hydrotherapy treatments; and assists in administering various types of electrotherapy.
Administer various types of physical therapy; teach the disabled the fundamentals of self-care and other suitable activities; interpret physical therapy treatments to nurses, attendants, parents and clients, and teach others the treatment which must be continued after hospitalization; prepare reports and keep records and case histories; analyze situations accurately and take effective action.
Minimum Qualifications: Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of physical therapy in California as determined by the California Board of Medical Quality Assurance.

Founded in 1875, Napa State Hospital is the only state hospital in Northern California for persons struggling with severe mental illness. Classified as a low to moderate security facility, the hospital has a bed capacity to treat up to 1,362 patients on an attractive campus with treatment units located on 138 acres. Staff is dedicated and committed to delivering high quality, cost-effective, professional services and specialized programs in an environment that promotes continuous improvements in treatment for individuals with mental disabilities.
Effective July 1, 2025, state employees are subject to temporary salary reductions in exchange for Personal Leave Program (PLP) accruals.
