Job Description And Duties
The incumbent works under the general direction of the Health Program Manager (HPM) II for the Program Alignment, Communication, and Equity (PACE) Section within the Center for Healthy Communities (CHC). The Health Program Specialist (HPS) II is responsible for coordinating and providing technical expertise on high-level policy, workforce development, and chronic disease prevention communication, addiction treatment and prevention, injury control, and environmental and occupation health related issues. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring coordination between the Center Office and related CHC leadership and staff, ensuring effective logistics, reporting and evaluation, and assists with grant writing and monitoring budget related activities. Oversees the coordination of prevention efforts and public awareness initiatives and ensures that new campaigns, curriculum, and programs adhere to departmental policies and receive approval prior to implementation.
In July 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025. This program temporarily reduces employees’ monthly base pay in exchange for paid leave credits. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. The salary ranges shown on this job posting do not reflect the salary reduction.
