Job Description And Duties:

The California Department of Insurance (CDI) is seeking a dynamic Insurance Diversity & Innovation Counsel with Knowledge of the laws under the jurisdiction of the Department, and the rules of Evidence, and Administrative Procedures Act and Experience drafting rules, regulations, and/or proposed legislation.

Under the general direction of the Chief, Office of Insurance Diversity and Innovation (OIDI) for the California Department of Insurance (CDI), the Attorney III, or the Insurance Diversity & Innovation Counsel, performs complex and sensitive legal work, and is responsible for making recommendations for regulation of and providing legal guidance on the application of laws under the department’s jurisdiction regarding, but not limited to, emerging an established insurance products and/or services.
Effective July 1, 2025, the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025 and related Pay Differential 386. PLP 2025 requires employees to receive a reduction in pay in exchange for monthly hours of PLP 2025 leave credits.
