Job Description And Duties
Under direction of the Chief of Project Management Office, the Information Technology Specialist I (ITS I) will independently plan, organize and manage the tasks related to IT Project Management at an expert level.
The incumbent adheres to project management guidelines as contained in the Statewide Information Management Manual (SIMM) and ensures IT project alignment and compliance with the Department of Technology (CDT), Department of Finance (DOF), and Department of General Services (DGS) direction, rules, and regulations. The DIR's IT project management methodology, which are based upon the Project Management Institute (PMI), Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), and California Project Management Framework (CA-PMF)
The incumbent is responsible to plan, schedule, lead and conduct the activities based on industry best practices and in alignment with the Department and Division's mission, goals and objectives. The incumbent will prepare, guide, and assist project teams in the planning, executing and closing activities required for the preparation of Project Approval Lifecycle (PAL) deliverables, Financial Analysis Worksheets, Special Project Reports, Project Status Reports, Post Implementation Evaluation Report, and System Maintenance and Operation Report. The incumbent will apply knowledge and skills in alignment with project management concepts, practices, and processes prescribed by the California Project Management Framework, Project Management Body of Knowledge, the California PAL, IT System Development Life Cycle standards, methodologies, processes, and State IT policies.
The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff at all levels both within and outside of DIR to complete work assignments. The incumbent must exercise the ability to work independently. Finally, the incumbent must demonstrate the ability to use the Internet, email, desktop applications, and presentation software to complete assignments. Confidentially must be maintained at all time.

The incumbent will work in a temperature-controlled office environment with an assigned cubicle. Access to the department suite will require a special badge. DIR is currently in a hybrid telework schedule and Incumbent will be required to work on site two days (or based on department policies) a week.
