GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Analytical Chemist position plans, prepares, conducts, and records routine chemical/biochemical experiments from sample homogenization to sample result reporting. The role involves conducting testing using HPLC instrumentation. The ideal candidate must have experience conducting routine testing using the Agilent 1260 Infinity II HPLC in a high throughput laboratory, experience with method development/validation, previous experience working with the DCC and ISO 17025. The Analytical Chemist performs all job functions with minimal intervention from other chemists under the direct supervision of the Laboratory Director.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:
- Perform general laboratory tasks such as sample preparation, instrument calibration and performance verification.
- Perform analytical analysis of samples, instrument maintenance, data analysis, review of analytical results, and the reporting of the associated test results.
- The analytical chemist will review quality control data, maintain records of instrument performance and schedule instrument preventive maintenance to promote the efficient analysis of samples.
- Provide oversight to any technicians responsible for the preparation or handling of samples destined for analysis.
- Ensures the conformity of all elemental and microbial results with their respective test methods and in accordance with the laboratory quality management system.
- Work with the Laboratory Director to continually improve standard operating procedures by participating in internal audits, proficiency testing, and annual review of testing methodology.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Acquire additional competencies and skillsets as needed to fulfill this role and other duties assigned by management, which may include developing new techniques for microbial and elemental analysis, method verification and validation, sampling and substituting for other laboratory personnel.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by maintaining aseptic methods and protocols; following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:
- BS in Chemistry, Biology, or related disciplines
- 2 years direct experience with the 126 Infinity II HPLC and Open Lab (Required)
- 2-4 years’ experience in analytical chemistry
- LC-MSMS, or HPLC experience
- MS Office suite proficiency
- Proven organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to formulate and clearly communicate ideas, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work both independently with little guidance, and within a collaborative group environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, and use of hands.
- Observe, see, hear, and respond to directions given with effective outcome.
- Ability to lift 30 lbs. from the floor to a waist-high table when necessary.
- Handle the responsibilities and routine stress often associated with this position.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
