We are seeking a reliable, organized, and detail-oriented Accountant/Bookkeeper to take ownership of our day-to-day accounting activities and help maintain accurate financial records as the company continues to grow.
This position will begin as a part-time role, approximately 18–30 hours per week, with the opportunity to transition into a full-time position based on performance and company needs.
Work Schedule
The typical part-time schedule will be approximately:
- 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on scheduled workdays
- Some scheduled days may be from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- The company will provide the weekly work schedule
This is a fully on-site position in La Mirada, California. Remote work is not available.
Responsibilities
- Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
- Prepare and issue customer invoices
- Track customer payments and outstanding balances
- Contact customers regarding overdue invoices and collections
- Enter, review, and process vendor bills
- Prepare and process certain vendor payments
- Process payroll accurately and on time
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Review and analyze Profit and Loss statements and Balance Sheets
- Assist with weekly financial reporting
- Support month-end and year-end closing
- Maintain accurate records in QuickBooks Online
- Assist with sales tax filings and compliance requirements
- Assist with payroll tax filings, 1099 preparation, and related accounting documentation
- Help maintain accurate inventory and cost-of-goods-sold records
- Resolve occasional invoice, billing, and vendor discrepancies
- Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation
- Coordinate with management and outside accounting professionals as needed
- Protect confidential financial and company information
Required Qualifications
- At least two years of accounting or bookkeeping experience
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online
- Experience managing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
- Experience with payroll processing
- Experience with invoicing, billing, payment tracking, and collections
- Strong understanding of bank and credit card reconciliations
- Ability to review and understand Profit and Loss statements and Balance Sheets
- Experience with inventory-based, wholesale, distribution, import/export, food, or similar businesses
- Knowledge of sales tax, payroll tax, 1099s, and basic accounting compliance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Comfortable working with Windows-based computer systems
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Strong integrity, responsibility, and confidentiality
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Ability to provide professional references
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with inventory accounting and cost of goods sold
- Experience working in food distribution, wholesale, manufacturing, or import/export
- Experience supporting month-end and year-end closing
- Experience preparing weekly management reports
Compensation and Benefits
- $25.00 per hour
- Part-time position with the opportunity to transition to full-time
