California Advancing Pathways for Students (CalAPS) is seeking an innovative, student-centered, and industry-connected Artificial Intelligence (AI) Pathway Instructor to develop and teach courses that prepare high school students for emerging careers in artificial intelligence, automation, and data-driven industries. The instructor will teach: Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Work (Concentrator) Agents, Vision, and Voice: The Next Generation of AI (Completer) Instruction will engage students in foundational and applied AI topics such as machine learning, intelligent agents, prompt engineering, computer vision, natural language processing, and the ethical use of intelligent systems. The instructor will integrate both technical and human-centered approaches to AI, emphasizing creativity, critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and responsible innovation. The pathway culminates in student capstone experiences where learners design conceptual AI-powered solutions (e.g., “AI for Good” challenges) that address a social, environmental, or workplace need. This course aligns with the California CTE Model Curriculum Standards, Standards for Career Ready Practice, and the ICT Sector, Software and Systems Development Pathway. Part-Time Hours: 4:00-6:30 p.m. Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday
Requirements / Qualifications
Appropriate CTE or Designated Subjects teaching credential or eligibility for appropriate credential. Candidates without a credential must have 3 years’ experience within the field. CalAPS will assist individuals in obtaining the preliminary credential provided the candidate can prove applicable proof of experience. Credential cost will be reimbursed by CalAPS. Three (3) years of work experience in the technical skills, trade, or vocations to be taught are required. One (1) of the three (3) years of the required experience must be within the last five (5) years, or two (2) years within the last ten (10) years.
