As a CHHA, you will work closely with clients to promote independence and comfort while adhering to home healthcare regulations and maintaining the highest standards of patient confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using patient transfer methods and equipment like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor and observe patients’ health status by taking vital signs, recording medical documentation, and reporting changes to supervising healthcare professionals.
- Administer medications and perform catheter care following prescribed medical protocols while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and home health care regulations.
- Provide specialized care for clients with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, developmental disabilities, or those receiving hospice or end-of-life care.
- Support clients with meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, and cleaning to promote a safe and comfortable environment.
- Communicate effectively with clients and their families to ensure understanding of care plans and foster trustful relationships.
Skills
- Proven experience working with geriatric patients, individuals with disabilities, or in assisted living environments.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, patient care techniques, and home health care regulations.
- Ability to accurately monitor vital signs and assist with medication administration while maintaining patient confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.
- Skilled in patient transfer methods including the use of Hoyer lifts and other mobility aids.
- Physical ability assisting with patient transfer methods, and provide long-term caregiving support.
