What are the responsibilities and job description for the Design Draftsman position at Caldwell Tanks?
We’re looking for a Design Drafter to join our engineering team in Louisville, Kentucky and help bring complex steel tank projects from concept to construction. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys detailed drafting work, collaborating with engineering teams, and seeing their drawings become real-world structures.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Prepare detailed fabrication and construction drawing packages for elevated and ground storage tanks
- Create plan and elevation layouts for tank systems and foundations
- Develop project documentation including shipping lists and supporting documentation
- Coordinate with engineering and project teams throughout fabrication and construction phases
- Assist with drafting for specific tank styles, components, accessories, and foundations
- Support continuous improvement of drafting standards and processes
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- Associate degree in Architectural Drafting, Mechanical Drafting, or equivalent experience
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with:
- Inventor
- Advance Steel
- VBA
- AME
- Industrial, structural steel, or heavy civil drafting experience
- Construction or fabrication-related drafting background
