The Parts Department Manager is responsible for all aspects of running a profitable and well-organized department. This includes but is not limited to profitability, inventory control, organization, and staff scheduling.

General Requirements:
- Must have relevant parts management experience in a retail environment and excellent mechanical aptitude.
- Manage a team of 2 team members
- Must have good leadership skills and the ability to manage a team.
- Knowledge of 2 and 4-cycle engines is required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Familiar with POS systems and online parts lookup tools, with strong product knowledge and an understanding of pricing and gross profit margins.
- Must be willing to work longer hours and Saturdays as required to meet seasonal customer demands.
- Able to lift and handle loads up to 85 lbs and work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work on your feet for extended periods.
Daily Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with opening the store, ensuring counters and computers are on and ready at opening.
- Begin each workday with a positive attitude by encouraging each team member to meet their daily goals.
- Work parts leads within the system. Make outbound calls to proactively secure parts sales. Participate in call campaigns.
- Manage deadstock and aged inventory
- Write and submit seasonal/booking orders.
- Review Shop Scheduling for all jobs in Parts - Need Review (PNR) status. This needs to be done frequently to ensure prompt parts orders & customer estimate approvals.
- Receive parts as they come in.
- Make sure parts for repairs are pulled and staged in their correct locations, see policy.
- Monitor the system consistently for parts orders needed. Place part orders as needed.
- Monitor our internal communication feeds for tasks & parts needs.
- Maintain a high level of organization—everything has a bin location, and customer displays are clean, stocked, and organized.
- Maintain the parts database. Keep descriptions similar so they generate on reports correctly. Set up “Alternates” & “Supercedes” so they link.
- Manage pricing and mark-ups. Submit pricing updates monthly to manufacturers. Maximize profits with wise purchasing.
- Control shipping costs
- Set up and execute inventory counts, including cycle counts and annual counts.
