Sourcing Specialist II | Hybrid | Charlotte, NC
Calculated Hire is seeking a Sourcing Specialist II to support one of our Fortune 150 utility partners. This hybrid opportunity is ideal for an experienced supply chain professional who has a background in strategic sourcing, contract negotiations, supplier management, and capital project procurement within the utility, energy, or industrial sectors.
This role partners closely with project managers and cross-functional stakeholders to develop sourcing strategies, lead competitive bid events, negotiate supplier agreements, and manage procurement activities supporting regulated and renewable energy projects.
Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid – 3 days onsite after onboarding)
Duration: Long-term contract with potential for extension
Travel: Occasional overnight travel required (travel expenses reimbursed)
What You'll Do:
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for complex materials, equipment, and services supporting utility capital projects.
- Lead RFQs, RFPs, supplier evaluations, and contract award recommendations.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and agreements while driving cost savings and process improvements.
- Manage supplier relationships, purchase orders, contract amendments, invoice discrepancies, and change orders.
- Partner with project managers and business stakeholders to support sourcing initiatives for regulated and renewable energy projects.
- Support Alliance Agreements, Master Service Agreements, and category management activities.
- Monitor supplier performance, market conditions, and sourcing opportunities to improve procurement outcomes.
- Mentor and provide guidance to sourcing team members as needed.
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree with 5–10 years of supply chain, sourcing, or procurement experience.
- Experience negotiating complex contracts and managing supplier relationships.
- Background supporting capital projects, outages, or utility operations is highly preferred.
- Experience sourcing labor, engineered equipment, materials, or services for power plants or industrial environments.
- Strong financial analysis, contract management, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple business functions.
Preferred Experience:
- Utility or energy industry experience.
- Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM).
- Experience with PowerAdvocate, Maximo, CAS, or other ERP/e-sourcing platforms.
- Knowledge of power plant operations and equipment.
